Review of House on Haunted Hill (1959) by Evan W — 21 Oct 2007
After seeing its' remake (and loving it), I was tempted to put a lot of high judgement onto this William Castle piece, but after viewing this film and than later doing a high school report/project on the ever-daring film creator William Castle, I realized what true entertainment should be, and this honestly is a good prime example of a movie that set out to scare its' audiences and (for that time period) it did*.
Btw: After showing pieces of Castle's films to my history class, the old lady on the dolly did make everyone laugh a lot, which is a great example of how it still somehow manages to entertain generations of movie goers*.
