Review of House on Haunted Hill (1959) by Ken T — 01 Nov 2010
This is one of those films that always has you guessing--is it supernatural or simply the evil in mankind? There is more than a bit of an Agatha Christie feel to this mystery--although if it was up to her she'd have killed pretty much everyone off (see: And Then There Were None, a similar-feeling story to this, sans the hyper-haunted atmosphere.
) The main problem this movie faces is feeling too short. While 75 minutes cranks through the plot, some nice scare moments, and a touch of characterization, it needs more.
