Review of House of the Dead (2003) by Kyle M — 28 Jun 2010
Before I get started on that list of films this is going to be my last review until I get most of that list done. I am going to review house of the dead and I got to say this is one of the most underrated film ever. But really a 4% and a spot in IMDB bottom 100 to me it's not that bad.
A while ago me and my brother Zac were renting films and we decide to rent this. At he back it says When Night of the Living Dead meets XXX and I thought it looks like a cool film so we picked it up and rented it along with a few others so the first film we watched was this and I have to say it was a good film. In Meany ways it was a bit dumb. But still I have seen it 32 times to date.
I have got to say I find this Uwe Bolls best film at least he tried in this. So far but my brother says it's Farcry that I will likely never see.
By the way this was Uwe Boll's only finically successful film that did well at the box office.
The story to the film is a rave on a small island inhabited by zombies who will kill anyone who comes onto there island. A bit stupid but I a good idea that was poorly done. In a way I can not really see any other story line for a house of the dead film likely because I have seen this so Meany times. There are a big number of plot holes and if these people were smart they could just swim off the island to the main land it is only about 2, 3 km if they really wanted to get off the island. I have to say I thought the action scenes were good that's another reason why I liked this film.
The acting I have to say is mixed to average it's not terrible or bad or that good it's just really average.
Some of the action scenes were really good but a bit ridicules but still enjoyable. The visual effects and for a film like this were good usually in an Uwe Boll film they would be retarded and messed up looking. The zombies and the make up used was really good for the hundreds of zombies they used.
But overall I think it's just to underrated many of you will really disagree with me. But I am also having a hard time weather to recommend it just watch if you really won't to. Or if you're a die hard fan of zombie films.
