Review of House of Sand and Fog (2003) by Raquel T — 23 Jun 2008
If you only want to see movies that are purely entertaining and offer no challenge to your emotions, or to your intellect, then keep going to see Disney movies and avoid this one. House of Sand and Fog concerns a young woman (Jennifer Connelly) who loses the house she inherited from her father due to a bureaucratic error, then learns, while she is trying to get the house back, that it has been bought by an Iranian immigrant who plans on selling it to turn a quick profit and refuses to return the house to her.
Bring Kleenex, and gird yourself to be gut-punched when you realize that all the things we think are so very important don't ultimately matter.
