This is an exceptional movie. It shows how people can go from a life of status, money, and glamour to a life of totally the opposite. Back home they have a pretty great life and then in the states, they realize it's not always so easy to have such glamour.

Shohreh does an amazing job as a wife who speaks little english and puts up with some crap from husband Ben. No wonder she got an award this year. I didn't like when the husband slaps the wife and she doesn't say anything to him afterwards.

It shows the husband show his regret to the son but doesn't even talk to the wife about what he did. That was very wrong and tells the audience that this kind of behavior is ok for a husband if he's stressed and angry.

Jennifer plays a fighting role but also a stupid one. She seems to want to keep her family's house and argues with the officers. But she doesn't open her mail to fight the charges and fines. She only complains afterwards and constantly goes back to 'her house' and fights with Ben.

The cop who at first seems like a nice guy, later also gets stupid and takes his 'rights' way too far. Threatening the family and abusing his authority. One part I loved was at the daughter's wedding.

As soon as the singing starts, everyone rushes to the dance floor to have fun. LOVE LOVE LOVE that!! Unfortunately it's a really short part.
