Review of House of Gucci (2021) by Richardrad — 24 Nov 2021
Some critics loathed this movie. I really liked it. It’s a rattling good tale with marvelous performances from Al Pacino, and Lady Gaga. (She plays Patrizia Gucci, who fiercely loved and married Maurizio, heir to the illustrious Gucci fashion house.
Years later she hired two hitmen to murder him). The splintered response to “The House of Gucci” may be a classic case of the gap between those who are paid to scribble their reactions to movies and the rest of us who have to pay for the privilege of watching them.
The film is a treat for the eyes and has a clear, compelling narrative, but it could have been a little shorter.
