Review of House of Flying Daggers (2004) by Kimberley F — 19 Apr 2010
Simply stunning art direction, and out of this world martial arts, but the story was lack lustre, and the Mei was often too stone faced for you to ever relate to the character. I found myself routing for the ending, but hating it all the more when it came.
For an action romance it really should not have been so boring. It played out like a ninja Twilight. I suppose I was expecting more from this in terms of story line, and the dialogue ( or translator? on the dvd edition) was terrible.
I sort of want to give it some more stars for being beautiful, but it just wasn't charming enough.
