Review of House of Flying Daggers (2004) by Paul G — 31 Dec 2008
House of Flying Daggers' strength is undoubtably its captivating visuals. From beautiful dances, to exciting fight scenes, to the beautiful locations, sets, costumes, make-up and cinematography. The score is lush and beautiful as well, inviting your to become lost in this romantic and exciting story. The film's only flaw is that it doesn't give us all the emotional impact needed to truly find ourselves connected with the characters. That isn't to say the film is cold or without emotion, but it never quite (quite!) reaches the level of emotional impact it strives for, but it comes pretty close.
Ziyi Zhang is one of the most beautiful women on film, and this film uses her beauty perfectly.
