Review of House of 1000 Corpses (2003) by Roxsy T — 02 Nov 2009
Let Roxsy take you to school... Though this is not by any means an original film you can take into count who directed it-- the amazingly talented Rob Zombie who has undying passion for older, old school horror.
Remember there's two different ways to interpret this film. To those won't like the movie it's a Texas Chainsaw rip-off, to those who will love it, it is a film by an inspired horror fanatic.
If you just like the movie, like I do, you can see it from either angle. House of 1000 corpses is full of entertaining characters and visuals. It also has enough shock and gore to satisfy any true horror fan just enough.
My favorite part of this film was the very beginning with Cpt. Spaulding (Sid Haig) and the men trying to rob him. Definately the best opening scene I've ever come across in cinema.
