Review of House II: The Second Story (1987) by Josh M — 16 May 2014
We don't believe in success.
An ancient house with mysterious inhabitants is moved into by a young man. He is approached by an old ghoul of sorts that actually wants to help him keep the house free of evil spirits; unfortunately, a secret skull unleashes a horrible ghost responsible for killing the young man's parents. Can the young man stop the ghost or will he become its next victim?
"You can call me gramps.".
Ethan Wiley, director of Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror, Blackwater Valley Exorcism, Elf-Man, and China Bigfoot, delivers House II. The storyline for this picture is extremely weak and all over the place. There is a whole bunch of unique subplots, but I am not sure any of them worked. The acting is also fairly weak and the cast includes Bill Maher, Royal Dano, Arye Gross, Jonathan Stark, and Lenora May.
"I've done all I can do in this world and it's time to move on.".
I had actually never watched this movie but I must have passed it on cable a couple times as a kid because I do remember the crazy grandfather in this picture. Overall, this movie is fairly terrible with some funny sequences and some cool special effects for the time. Overall, I'd probably skip this.
"You better pack your ass a suitcase and head to Panama.".
Grade: C-.
