Review of House at the End of the Street (2012) by Andreas M — 28 Feb 2013
Not the worst horror film I've seen lately but far from the best either. The story was quite interesting, different, I didn't see the twist coming (although I rarely do anyway, which i'm glad about).
I liked the characters, Jennifer Lawrence was cast well as the girl next door and Max Thieriot was great as the sweet, troubled young man hiding a dark secret. It was a little slow in places, a little cliche, a little lifeless but in others it was suspenseful and unnerving, which is key in any horror film.
It just kind of lacked something, maybe it was the amount of gore (which was next to nothing)..I dunno, can't quite put my finger on it. It was entertaining enough, made fairly well but I wouldn't watch it again.
Great for a sleepover.
