Review of House at the End of the Street (2012) by Jonathan I — 25 Jul 2013
This is the same quality as a TV movie--a less-than-clever storyline in a less-than-smart script. With intelligible lines and more mature wrappings of the story to make this more thrilling throughout rather than just the last 20 minutes, this movie could have been something to remember. As it is, generic teenagers would be its ideal target audience.
The only thing that makes this movie tolerable is Jennifer Lawrence's grounding and individualization of what is written nearly as an every girl character. Any other actress would have made me want to claw my eyes out. Her chemistry opposite Max Thieriot works pretty well, too.
