Review of House at the End of the Street (2012) by Jorge G — 26 Jul 2013
Starts off pretty good and then just becomes awful about an hour in. All the characters, especially Jennifer Lawrence, become unbelievably retarded, to the point that they're honestly a bigger danger to themselves than the creepy guy who's trying to kill them.
They keep giving the bad guy extra chances to kill them by not calling the cops when they have the chance, not calling for backup, not barricading that door as well as they could have, etc. It's so fucking dumb, which is a real shame because the first half of the movie is actually good.
I've never seen a film degrade as much as in the second half of this movie. The twist isn't really anything mind-blowing, but I thought there would be this kind of mindfuck for the audience. Instead, it turns out that the town and the stigma that they had against (spoiler!) Ryan was completely correct.
So the twist for this movie is that...there really isn't a twist? That's fucking dumb.
