Review of Hour of the Wolf (1968) by Michael E — 14 Aug 2008
Great,Great,Great film. This is Ingmar Bergmans only horror film in which he brings this stylized, psychological creepiness to a whole new level. Alma (Liv Ullmann) speaking directly to the camera tell us of the disappearance of her husband, artist Johan Borg (Max von Sydow) in one his best roles ever as he (through readings of his journal) is seen to confront memories and demons.
This is probably Bergmans most personal film and my new favorite of his.
