Review of Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (2018) by Miette T — 22 Jul 2018
Aside from the usual colorful aesthetic of the franchise, the movie itself was nothing to write home about. The acting was subpar, and the writing could benefit from some major changes. As a parent of two kids, I can confidently say that your kids will enjoy this movie but you will not.
All of the jokes that were supposedly thrown in to relate with the adult audience were drawn on too long and some were wildly inappropriate for kids. [SPOILER ALERT] There is one scene where the grandpa character is flaunting his genital area in a very tiny speedo to a group of older female witches, and I feel that the entire scene did not need to be in this movie.
My kids catch on to the tiniest things, and the entire ride home from the theater they were imitating the grandpa character by sitting legs spread out on the car seats. I feel this movie was drawn on way too long, and the only way that the entire family will enjoy it is if your entire family is composed of five-year-old creeps.
