Review of Hotel Transylvania (2012) by Dave H — 27 Apr 2014
Like the weakest Dreamworks pics in so many ways: stunt-casting, standard voicework, polished-yet-far-too manically overcrowded animation. But a decent premise, and it's nice to see the famous five of Universal horror here.
..although there's not much beyond the usual monster cliches. (Zombies were cool though). Still, it is fast and silly and fun, and...despite the predictable themes of not taking strangers (monster or not) on face value, it reworks my beloved Finding Nemo theme (overprotective parent needing to let go) well enough.
Universal Horror Icons + Nemo + Fawlty Towers = worth checking out.
