Review of Hotel Rwanda (2004) by Andy P — 18 Feb 2013

This is the 2nd time I've seen this movie. That it's based on a true story depicting these horrifying events and can make me feel I was there is impressive. Nominated for best pic, it reminded me this time of a couple other best pics.

HR is a little Casablanca--biz man trying to make a living in the turmoil of hate and war. Also reminds me a bit of Schindlers List--biz man who sacrifices much to save many lives. The UN was impotent maintaining the peace; Nick Nolte seemed eerily effective in his befuddledness.

Don Cheadle brought incredible depth to his character. To maintain the sense of dignity amongst the genocide taking place, I've wondered if his character, Paul, is a man of faith. Not an easy watch, but I had white knuckles all the way thru, even this 2nd time.
