Review of Hotel Chevalier (2007) by Chucho E. Q — 24 Jan 2008
Absolutely necessary for the film itself, this is painful, heartbreaking, sexy and romantic but depressing at the same time. Wes Anderson's style is all over the hotel room and the performances are simply fantastic.
Natalie Portman has grown so much as an actress that it even makes you proud. A wonderful shortfilm... maybe its only flaw is that it doesn't tell much if seen by itself. It needs "The Darjeeling Limited" by its side to work as wonderfully as it works, otherwise it's just "pretty" instead of "beautiful".
