Review of Hotel Chevalier (2007) by Carl S — 21 Aug 2008
This really sets up Schwartzman's character, and goes someway to explaining his liaison with Amara Karan's Rita in the main feature.
The sheer opulence of the visuals is intoxicating, the scarcity of dialogue gives each phrase such dramatic weight, and the treatment of Portman is almost fetishistic.
The tragedy of such a powerful short, is that The Darjeeling Limited pales in comparison. Can I just buy this film on its own please?
