Ok didn't realise there a seperate thing for the short film before the Darjeeling Limited. The short film was ok, I'm still not sure whether I feel it added anything to the feature or not. We don't really need to see the background of the broken relationship but I guess in the scenes in the film when he is checking her answering machine etc it is nice to have that image of Portman's character in mind.
The short is quite sweet, set in the hotel room I still felt Schwartzman made it work even though I like Portman as an actress I felt she didn't have much to work with here and her nude scene was pretty off putting to be frank.
Seeing her ribs poking out was pretty icky. On the whole it didn't compliment the feature with the same style, it felt more stylized and scripted, in comparison to the believability of the characters and their dialogue in the feature.
What I did enjoy with this short was the music, as in the film the music is perfect! Still despite the elements that didn't agree with me completely it was refreshing to see a short before a feature film.
