Review of Hotel Artemis (2018) by Robert M — 11 Jun 2018
Though the story is a complete mess, as I am not sure what the story is or who the protagonist was, I still had a fun time at the movies.
Huge riots in LA (original) because water has been privatized(isn't it already) and there is this Hotel where bad guys go to have a safe haven and get medical help (John Wick anyone) from a Nurse who is an old frail lady who got bamboozled into being the caretaker...
Now, for some reason, unknown to us and never revealed these bad guys are all injured and are on their way. There are sublots that are introduced and never explored, the Nurse (Foster) has a back story that seems out of place and forced, but Hey, Dave bautista is a health care professional and that is freaking funny. Although, for those that have seen it, the gag only works if it is in 3s or more. This gag was used 2 times, therefore fails.
Regardless, for some reason, I had a good time. It blows Hereditary out of the water as far as outright entertainment, but not cinematography or acting. No one is particularly good in this, and of course The Goldblum is not in it long enough for him to be, The Goldblum. Still, for some reason, I had a fun time watching this...
