Review of Hot Coffee (2011) by Susan P — 28 Jun 2011
Loved this very informative film. It was eye-opening, educational, surprising, and anger-inducing. I also loved the section with Al Franken, a case I knew a lot about but learned even more about. Getting the whole story made even more proud of not just him, but the brave woman he helped.
(I love that I got to thank him in person too! When I brought it up he nearly cried, it really affected him). Good watching for everyone, I believe, especially anyone who thinks the lady who sued over the coffee being hot at McDonald's was a moron.
The real story is not the story the media/business world has spun it to be, I found myself on her legal side when I heard the entire story, and went in curious, because I never thought it added up. That story was basically a jumping off point about tort reform, a "frivolous lawsuit" that everyone is familiar with but nobody seems to know the whole story about.
I learned I didn't. Google the name of the movie to see the official website, it talks all about the cases shown.
