Review of Hot Coffee (2011) by Jim C — 21 Jun 2012
I thought this would be an examination of the rise in frivolous lawsuits brought by money-grabbing Americans, and an examination of how the Stella Awards have encouraged more of the same. However, it's actually an expose of how big business and insurance companies have manipulated our view of lawsuits so that legitimately-awarded payments are reversed by paid-for judges.
Moreover, many claims are automatically sent to arbitration, where they are decided on by arbitrators who owe their jobs to the corporations that can legally choose them to make these decisions. Everyone should watch this excellent documentary.
