Hostel is an entertaining pornography of torture, despite being in its infancy in terms of the degree of violence depicted in it compared to other films in the "subgenre". But merely being entertaining isn't enough to be considered remotely good, especially when the filmmaker intends his creation to be one with subtle social commentaries.
