Review of Hostel (2011) by Coleman M — 05 Jan 2015

Didn't really expect that much from this movie, but it was actually okay. Beginning of the movie was like a teen comedy, but after the movie hit it's 30 minute mark, everything changed. That's what I liked the most about the movie, you can show it to someone saying it's a comedy (it is, for first half an hour) and when they watch it, they're gonna be pretty suprised! The story is okay, the revelation of the "business" didn't satisfy that much, I liked it more when I didn't know what was happening.

Acting was, suprisingly, very good! Even for such a movie, the actors did a really good job. Their characters are also likeable, so you have someone to root for. I was expecting much more gore, tho. Sure, it has some really disturbing scenes near the end, I expected it to be a bit more shocking.

All in all, it's an okay horror movie with an interesting premise, and even if it's flawed, it's good to spend the night with.
