Review of Hostel (2006) by Cale B — 28 Jan 2014
It is the story of a few "young adults" who go to Europe to do what else but get high and drunk and have sex with random girls, even paying prostitutes for it) when things suddenly go wrong (what, things actually go wrong when you are doing idiotic things!?). It seems they have been pawns in a larger game and they find themselves trapped in a horrible and agonizing situation. Turns out that people are actually abducted and sold to this human for sale black market where in turn people pay money, more depending on where you are from, simply to torture and kill you. Bottom line, don't get abducted over there. Considering we know that this sick story is presented by Quentin Tarantino, well that only makes it more sick and twisted, which if you're into movies like this, is all the more fun. Eli Roth says the film isn't for everyone and only accessible to those that can handle the depravity and myriad of disturbing and horrific images and sounds that make up the story in Hostel.
I'll recommend this for Tarantino fans and people that can take seeing limbs being cut off and simply horrible situations unfold. If your into that kind of thing, then have fun with this one. If you are squeamish or gore bothers you, you can't handle torture or other demented acts of brutality and psychologically damaged people, then stay far away.
