Review of Horsemen (2009) by Etienne F — 28 Jul 2009
Interesting film that explores a number of crimes based on the Book of Revelations concerning the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse which are War, Famine, Pestilence and Death. It took me nearly three weeks to rent this movie because both Blockbusters I went to had only 3 copies each and the film was always checked out. For some reason it did not do well at the theaters and I can understand why since it is nowhere near as good as Seven (Pitt), Fallen (Washington) or End of Days... A recently widowed detective (Aidan Breslin played by Quaid) still grieving over his wife's death discovers a shocking connection between himself and the suspects in a serial killing spree linked to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The film is NOT horror, nor a slasher film...its about a study of the human psyche, and the Book of Revelations. It would certainly help in understanding the movie if you are familiar with the Bible and in particular the Apocalypse.
This one is definitely drama/thriller.
The film had its moments and was suspenseful, some of the murders were gruesome and I did not find it predictable..I was quite surprised at the ending..its recommended but this one won't make it to my private collection.
