Review of Horsemen (2009) by Scott T — 12 Aug 2010
Concept of the movie was decent at the start, mood and tone of the opening scenes of the movie made me think I might be in for an enjoyable 90 mins but I should have known better. In all honesty, when I saw Peter Stormare's name pop up on the opening titles I wasn't expecting great things (besides Prison Break, Fargo and Constantine he's always in rubbish) even after the intriguing first 40 mins I should have turned it off.
Dennis Quaid is wasted in this dreck and can play burnt out cops in his sleep. It's a blatant Seven rip off from the get go and the twist ending is so bleeding obvious it spoilt the film completely.
Quaid's character is complete cliche but the biblical references were interesting, the murders un-nerving and Ziyi Zhang gave a creepy performance I thought. Even though the big reveal about her character(and again bleeding obvious - why cast her otherwise?) made me think I was seeing things! Non of this could save it though.
Wasted opportunity and don't waste precious minutes of your life watching it would be my recommendation.
