As with far too many sequels, it seems the filmmakers re-purposed an already written screenplay that had nothing to do with the original premise and simply changed the character names to fit into a known brand.
If you liked the first Horrible Bosses, you might like this also because there are quite a few funny moments (mostly courtesy of Jennifer Aniston), but be warned that it has nothing to do with bosses being horrible.
