Review of Horns (2013) by Ding C — 15 Nov 2014
So you get a book and you totally change the sequence of telling the story but keeping the plot intact, make it a movie about the nature of good and evil , get young actors who are totally serious with their craft and voila, you got "Horns". This movie starts of like a really sad movie, something I had to wonder if I can dare finish, but I tried to endure the sad story and suddenly it gets sadder with every twist and revelation. This sad build up was too long and it became a little uncomfortable, but the reward is at the end , then it just makes you feel remarkably good.
I thought this was a great movie except for a couple of flaws, one I already said about the buildup being too long, and the other one was a total lack of focus on what the film should be about and those are the HORNS. Seemed like this film was bent on giving Daniel Radcliffe a big dramatic ending to showcase his acting capabilities that it didn't give much attention to what the horns were all about. Though there are clearly two things that make this one such a good film: editing and Daniel Radcliffe.
