Review of Hoosiers (1986) by Adam S — 27 Sep 2008

I just watched 'hoosiers' for the first time since the early 1990s and one thing was evident: certain aspects of this film really did not age well. in particular, the music and reliance on basketball games to propel the plot forward work against the longevity of 'hoosiers'.

For the most part, hershey-hopper-hackman are stellar... but it is difficult to watch a film set in the 1950s tainted by a score that is distinctly 1980s... oh, and a lazy mode of storytelling more suited for television dramas.

All-in-all, 'hoosiers' is still 'hoosiers', and for those that love basketball, it will be a long time before this feature film is surpassed.

(note: the best film about basketball is still the documentary 'hoop dreams'.).
