Review of Hoop Dreams (1994) by Jerome C — 21 Feb 2008
Itâ??s very hard to justify the feeling that this is the perfect film when there are so many things going against it. Firstly: itâ??s a documentary. How the hell can I consider it up there with phenomenal narrative films? Secondly: the characters, or should I say people, are so normal.
How can that be interesting!? Thirdly (and this is just outrageous): there are no explosions. I hope that you reading this will be intelligent enough to get my point here. This is a very special film.
