Review of Hoop Dreams (1994) by Riley H — 17 Jul 2008
As if some hollywood screenwriters had written it...well, almost. Incredible. The (little bit of original) music leaves a lot to be desired but then it was the early 90s, maybe that stuff wasn't cliche yet.
Everything else about it is fantastic. It is the most illuminating film about trying to become an athlete (or just to go from poverty to riches) that I've ever seen.
