Review of Hoop Dreams (1994) by Chris D — 25 Jun 2010
Completely absorbing: you connect to the two families quickly and the story flows very organically, which makes sense since it all actually happened. Easily the best documentary I've ever seen: the poorest of Chicago dreaming big dreams, and pushing on even when things don't work out like you plan.
These boys from the ghetto are pure inspiration, clawing their way out of the existence that was laid out for them from birth.
