Review of Homicide: The Movie (2000) by Ben W — 30 Sep 2009
Another great film experience brought to you by david mamet. and while I noticed the trademark mamet dialog in this, it seemed a bit muted and deemphasized in this film. the part that I enjoyed about this film was the sharp left turn it took about half an hour in.
you think its going to be about one thing and it ends up emphasizing an entirely different aspect of the its main character. there are strong identity and loyalty components here, components that muddy the moral waters of the story.
this is one of the things that mamet does best.
