The great big payoff that comes in the form of elaborate Rube Goldberg slapstick sequences is pretty great, but the rest of Home Alone requires so much patience and enormous suspension of disbelief the rest of the movie is a chore.
It's so fucking boring. I haven't seen this in about 11 years and it'll probably be another 20 until I see this again.
