Home is a sweet film - colourful, full of imagination, populated with delightful characters. Unlike many similar family films these days, Home is squarely a children's movie, the humour more slapstick than witty (bar the odd one liners), the premise kept simple and the script fairly mundane.

That said Home still touches on some big topics such as loneliness, exclusion, bullying and bereavement. Even political hot potatoes such as incitement to war and refugee crises are central themes. Not exactly run of the mill material for your standard animation, it's just a pity that such laudable ambitions weren't matched in the crafting of the script.

Nevertheless there were enough laughs and by the end some genuine tears to make Home a pleasant diversion for 90 minutes or so.
