An alien race called the Boovs led by Captain Smek (Martin) escape to Earth from their enemies, The Gorgs.
The Boovs, who are known for lack of courage, use their technology to take over the cities of the world (except in Antartica) by transferring the human population into glass domes.
Oh (Parsons) is a Boov hated by his own kind because he has accidentally sent out an invitation to everyone to come to his party, including the Gorgs!
If the Gorgs receive the invitation, that will alert them to the Boovs presence on Earth.
Oh becomes a fugitive. While trying to retrieve the invitation to the Gorgs and avoiding the Boovs’ authorities, he meets human girl, Gratuity “Tip” Tucci (Rihanna), the only one not placed in the glass dome.
Oh forms an unlikely alliance with Tip and her pet cat, Pig and together, they travel to Paris to locate her mother as well as to stop the invitation from reaching the Gorg.
Oh soon comes to understand more about the humans and learns a valuable lesson of team work and not to judge by their looks.
In the process, he also realizes that the Boovs have to change too.
Adapted from the 2007 children’s book, The True Meaning of Smekday, this movie is suitable for children as it contains some valuable moral lessons.
Voice actors like Rihanna have also done a good job giving life to their characters.
Overall, this movie may not have the best animation but it is still enjoyable for the many laughs.
