Even though its totally off the wall and absolutely bonkers . . . "Holy Motors" is rather enjoyable. I'm not usually on board for films that are this deliberately "meta" (yes, I used it and I'm sorry) in their commentary, but Carax plays so much of the film for laughs that its hard not to get sucked into the world he's created, if only because it doesn't seem quite so pretentious.
Denis Lavant's performance is great both physically and emotionally and Kylie Minogue's brief musical number is rather powerful.
