Review of Holy Motors (2012) by Tomass P — 03 Mar 2013
Is it genius or just barking mad? Denis Lavant plays Mr Oscar, who drives around in a stretch limousine on a schedule performing a vast array of different characters - man from the sewer - Monsieur Merde (a reprised role for Denis Lavant) is the best creation back again eating money and flowers, but I also liked him as the lead player of an impromtu band of accordian players and when he morphs the person whom he has just killed into his current character is quite clever, even Kylie Minogue pops up to sing a song (just when her acting was just getting going - so her character reaps just reward) - it's certainly a strange world, even the cars reflect on their day when they end back at "Holy Motors", it wouldn't quite have worked if it wasn't in french! (DVD).
