Review of Holy Motors (2012) by Matt M — 21 Mar 2013
An eccentric film by an eccentric filmmaker. In this film, Carax gives into self indulgence but is nevertheless able to create a unique vision of a contradictory futuristic world on the verge of abolishing machines but practically stripped of humanity, with emotions having to be staged to exist.
Holy Motors is a bizarre and provocative journey that splits its audience in half but has all heads scratching.
