Review of Holmes & Watson (2018) by Claire M — 30 Dec 2018
I went into the movie after all the negative press with low expectations, and was pleasantly surprised! If you enjoy Will Ferrellâ(TM)s brand of humor, then I feel that youâ(TM)ll enjoy the film. It was a little crass at moments (think Talladega Nights), but it made the audience laugh at several points, and I liked a lot of the tongue-in-cheek jokes they made about modern trends.
Iâ(TM)m a pretty easy movie critic, maybe donâ(TM)t go see it if you are a movie snob or harsher critic, but otherwise I think the movie does what a comedy aims to do, and was suitably entertaining for the masses.
Honestly the only reason I wrote this review, which is my first, was that I thought it was a bit unfair with how much bad press the movie was receiving...I didnâ(TM)t think it was half bad, at least not nearly as bad as critics made it out to be.
And from what I could tell, the audience in my theatre at least seemed to generally feel the same, so it didnâ(TM)t seem to be just me who enjoyed it.
