Review of Hollywoodland (2006) by Suzanne S — 29 Apr 2010
How can it be based on "one of Hollywood's most infamous mysteries" when no on had heard of that mystery until this film? The use of flashbacks to tell the story results in an episodic film with little narrative flow and the parallels in the detective's life are overdone, distracting, and unnecessary.
Too many plots to follow, too little character development, and, ultimately, who really cares? Reeves hasn't been elevated to the level of a Monroe or a Lombard.
