Review of Hollywoodland (2006) by Faisal A — 25 Aug 2013
Interesting, if not very remarkable, examination of the circumstances surrounding George Reaves's mysterious death. I was more interested in George Reaves and his life than in that of Louis Simo and his tireless investigation.
For one, Ben Affleck was the more interesting actor, and Adrien Brody could not compete. Plus conspiracy theories have started to bore me over the years, and maybe I ended up watching this film at the wrong time, but the more and more films like these try to convince me of certain ideas, the more intolerable I tend to get.
Not a bad film by any means, but not one I could view over and over. What this film does note, is just how good of an actor Ben Affleck can be, and I would argue that this film marked his rebirth in Hollywood.
