Review of Hollywoodland (2006) by Late R — 31 Mar 2018
It starts off well and with an intriguing premise too, made doubly-so by it being based on real-life events. There's a good hour in there where there's some interesting stuff going on, including becoming familiar with both the characters (most of which have more to them than meets the eye) and the events surrounding Reeves' death, all set to a jazz soundtrack that lends the appropriate air of mystery to the film-noir tone.
The problem is it becomes very apparent that there just isn't anywhere near enough content for a feature-length film and they have to fill the rest of the 2 hr running time with something -- what they fill it with is not only uninteresting, but seemingly completely irrelevant to the mystery at hand, meaning you spend too much time waiting to get back to what you came to watch in the first place.
