Review of Holiday (1938) by Amber M — 30 Jan 2008
I think this has got to be one of Katharine Hepburn's best performances. She's usually very flighty and gives you a very stressed feeling while watching her on screen-- not the case with this film.
Though she has grown up in a wealthy family, she has never found any happiness in it, except in one little room where she enjoyed many lovely memories with her mother. It's there that she falls in love with Cary's simple passion to make his way in the world, He doesn't want to earn a fortune, but he longs to do the work he feels called to.
Katharine is the only one who understands and truly appreciates that about his character. I'll certainly be adding this one to my DVD library.
