Review of Holes (2003) by Nick R — 01 Sep 2009
Based off of the novel by Louis Sachar, Holes follows the story of Stanley Yelnats, and his "family curse." This "curse" leads to Stanley getting hauled off to a youth correction camp called Camp Green Lake, where he must dig a hole 5 feet deep with a 5 foot diameter.
As the story plays out, it turns that the history behind the camp, and everything, goes much deeper than originally thought. This complex and entertaining storyline keeps you thinking after the movie, which makes it come across as really good.
Plus, Holes has one of my favorite non-original soundtracks.
