Review of Hobo with a Shotgun (2011) by Benjamin H — 16 Apr 2012
This is a low budget, exploitation flick that is drenched in blood and gore and stars an old, past his prime, actor from the eighties and is pretty damn brilliant. Rutger Hauer plays an itinerant traveller coming to clean up the town from the pimps, gangs and corrupt police.
Intending to buy a lawnmower to clean up the city he quickly abandons that plan and buys a shotgun instead laying waste to everyone who abused him along the way. There is some sort of nod to the question of social justice and redemption but mainly its a homage to the splatter movies of the era.
If you like old 80s B movie violence then this is for you.
