Review of Hobo with a Shotgun (2011) by Ben M — 13 Oct 2012
My love for action and violence finally comes together in one of last years best films. Rutger Hauer plays the Hobo in Hobo With A Shotgun. A Amazing Violent Tale of Vengeance and Justice. A Hobo walks into a new town where violence is caused by The Drake. No one likes the hobo. But he wants to start a lawnmowing business. In a scene that will make you cry, he looks into the window wanting to buy a lawnmower. It is so touching that you care for the hobo. He goes into the shop when all of a sudden a few robbers come in saying explict dialoge. When theres nothing left to do, The Hobo gets a shotgun and kills them graphicly, he buys it and brings justice to the town killing pedophiles, pimps and snuff filmmakers. The Drake Doesn't Like this and sends everyone to kill him including the townspeople. There is still hope for the hobo to live as a prostitute named Abby helps him. This movie was based on a grindhouse tralier that was made for a contest to see who can make the best grindhouse tralier and then the winner could make it into a movie. The movie is excellently violent and packs a huge punch through the wall. The acting is superb by Rutger Hauer who the academy did not nominate and completely ignored. I mean look at one scene for example when he talks to a baby about how he might become one of the bad guys. You couldn't possibly snub that! The only problem I had with this movie was the ending. This... This is possibly the worst ending I have ever seen to a movie ever. Nothing Happens. The hobo is shot as Abby screams and then the credits role. I MEAN WHAT THE HELL I WANT A BETTER ENDING. There is a alternate ending on the dvd and blu ray but its even worse as Abby joins the bad guys. I want a ending where they go to the zoo like Abby mentioned then they walk away. Then all of a sudden a bad guy appears and The Hobo brings out a Winchester 1887. Then says "THATS NOT A SHOTGUN. THIS IS A SHOTGUN." Then blows his head away. Hobo With A Shotgun might be disapointing to some but it is a incredibly smart movie.
96/100 A.
