Review of Hobo with a Shotgun (2011) by Its B — 01 Sep 2011
Hell, you wouldn't go to see this film if you wanted something intellectually challenging, subtle or remotely original, but, for what it is, there's no better film out there. Gore and guns abound, it's satirical - but, at the same time, homage - washing of Grindhouse-style movies is both funny and disturbing in equal measure.
Eisner controls the action about as well as the Hobo wields his shotgun, but that's the point - it's low budget, it's terrible, the acting is wooden and the cinematographer has never held a camera before in his life, but that all gives it an authentic and original feel.
Brilliant.
